Questions about custom doors

• What counts as a custom garage door?

  A door selected and built around your home's architecture rather than picked from stock inventory. In practice that means carriage house, custom wood, modern glass or an insulated double-car door, specified with the panel style, hardware and finish chosen for your elevation.

• Will a wood door survive Florida sun?

  It will if the finish system is rated for it. Sustained UV and afternoon humidity are what break coatings down here, so the wood species and the coating get chosen as a single decision, sealed and top-coated for this climate.

• Can you handle HOA approval?

  We put together the panel style, hardware finish and colour documentation the association asks for. The approval itself is theirs to give, but the paperwork should not be what holds it up.

• Do I need a permit for a custom door?

  Orange County lists garage doors as permit work, and the door still has to meet the wind-load requirement for the opening. That gets confirmed as part of the specification.

• How far ahead should I plan?

  Custom and built-to-order doors have lead times that stock doors do not, so the design conversation should start well before you need the door on the wall. We will tell you the current lead time on the call.

• Can you match a door to my existing trim?

  That is the normal starting point. Trim colour, grain and profile drive the material and the finish, and a smooth painted overlay is sometimes the closer match to painted trim than real wood.
